Al Hollinger first began to create
Native American style flutes in 2004. Because Hollinger
recognized that each flute is a personal vessel of sacred
breath, he began to create and burn images upon them. This
artistry progressed; Desert Winds flutes are both
distinctive and varied. Be assured there are no
duplications. Hollinger believes that a flute should age
like an old pair of jeans that get better as they show their
age. No permanent finish is applied to the flutes. The
flute will absorb the oils of your hands, and show the wear
of use, and evolve as you do. Various woods are used to
create these flutes. The unique flute blocks, are hand
gathered from nature and add both texture and beauty. A
variety of woods are used for these blocks including
Mesquite, Juniper, Manzanita and Pinon. Finger holes are
carefully burned to the necessary dimensions. The end result
are unique flutes that allow the player’s breath to create
healing songs of the heart. |
